Midnight Train to Georgia

We emptied the house, loaded the Penske truck, and drove 900 miles to our new apartment in historic Savannah, Georgia.  The first week was one of chaos, confusion, farewells, excitement, and anticipation of new adventures in our new home.
- Goodbye 1600 square foot cottage in the woods.
- The Penske truck loaded up and ready to roll through flat lands, foothills, mountains, and marshland.
- Driving through the mountain tunnels in Appalachia with Cash and Kyle in the truck and me, Dawn, and Jazzy following behind.
- Welcome to historic downtown Savannah!
- Standing in the surf on Tybee Island.
- Showing Cash and Dawn the sites  and squares downtown.
- Soaking up some sun and the realization that this is our new home.
- Taking Cash and Dawn on the Creepy Crawl.  He were are at The Pirate's House sipping on some Chatham Artillery Punch.
- Having a panic attack about the task of unpacking.
, 11, 12 - Dressed up for Valentine's Day, where we dined at Jazz'd Tapas Bar for the first time.  We chowed down on crab cakes, chorizo stuffed mushrooms, cuban beef satays, empanadas, and shrimp and grits.  For dessert, we had the terra cotta cheese plate with a variety of cheeses, apples, grapes, and sliced baguette.  To wash it all down, we cracked open a bottle of Robert Oatley Shiraz.
- We ordered carryout from Mellow Mushroom pizza, ate in the communal courtyard outside, and opened a bottle of Chateau Aeronautique's "Cabernet Franc Reserve" that we've been holding onto for three years.  We agreed we would save it until we had finally made the move to Savannah.
- After nearly a week, with most everything unpacked, the kitchen was finally usable to cook in.  I made baked coconut shrimp with lime-coconut rice and mango-avocado-watercress salad.
& 17 - Setting up the apartment.  On the top right is part of the living with Jazzy's chair and Klimt on the wall.  On the bottom right is the bedroom with my "headboard collage."  Too many paintings (even with leaving several back in Michigan with my parents) and too little wall space.  So I decided to cram them all together into collage to hang above the bed.
- It isn't home until Kyle makes me Swedish pancakes over the weekend.  We doused them in Michigan maple syrup and strawberry and blueberry preserves from Michigan winery Chateau Chantal.  It was a little taste of back home as we transition into our new life in Savannah.
